Magnus Says “Accept Bitcoin”
….So Here We Are…
For decades, I’ve been selling art with bank transfers, cash and before 2017 maybe even the occasional check. It’s worked just fine. But according to my grandson Magnus, the world is changing, and I need to catch up.
“Morfar,” he says, “you should accept Bitcoin.”
At first, I thought he was joking. Why would I, an ageing Danish art dealer, need digital money? But after listening to him (and a lot of coffee fueled discussions), I’ve decided to agree.
What Is Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is digital money—like Danish kroner, but it only exists on the internet. BUT, no banks or governments control it. Instead, it runs on a network across the whole world, allowing people to send & receive it directly.
He says it’s like gold & since I deal art including African pieces with rich histories, this makes sense. Like art, Bitcoin has no borders.
Why Accept Bitcoin?
Magnus gave me two reasons, and I must admit, they are not bad, it’s faster & cheaper!
